About the Artist

Kim Andrea is an artist in Boston, MA. She has studied at North Texas State University, and in 1999 was accepted into the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and awarded a scholarship from the Museum of Fine Arts. In the 1990s she traveled to Las Vegas, NV where she met the artist Frank Stella. That conversation set the stage for her eventual foray into abstract imagery.

Currently, her portfolio consists of pastel drawings, portraits, pencil drawings, linoleum block prints, and abstract gouache paintings. She is developing a series of works in watercolors, and another series in acrylics and oils.

“Having learned how to draw, my greatest desire is to understand how to paint.”
– Kim-Andrea

Her favorite artists are Rembrandt, Matisse, and Kandinsky. Her favorite poet is Rabindranath Tagore.

The true merit of art is that it encapsulates understanding. Through art, the subtle percolates through the gross, transforming the awareness of the perceiver. – Kim Andrea

I Saw

This drawing represents grief, anguish and personal loss, and the history of human sorrow. But it also represents hope for changing the cycles of human oppression and lifting the soul of the world.
